Czech Republic Voices Readiness to Help Iran Construct Waste-Fuel Power Plants

"We can cooperate with Iran in the construction of waste-fuel power plants," Sobotka said joint press conference with Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian in Tehran on Tuesday.

He underlined that the bases of energy production in Czech Republic are nuclear energy and waste-Fuel power plants, and said, "We can have good cooperation with Iran in these fields."

Sobotka reiterated that energy is one of the most important and crucial sectors for all states' economic development, and said, "Fortunately, Iran is in a very important position in the field of energy reserves."

In relevant remarks earlier today, Chitchian in a meeting with Sobotka in Tehran called for boosting cooperation between the two countries on renewable energies.

"The record of cooperation between Iran and Czech Republic dates back to a long time ago and we are currently cooperating on the construction of Khoda-Afarin hydroelectric power plant in Northwestern Iran," Chitchian said.

Chitchian and Sobotka also discussed the capacities and capabilities of the two countries in the water and electricity sectors.

The Iranian energy minister welcomed participation of the Czech companies in financing or constructing waste-fuel power plants in Iran.

Last week, Iranian and Czech officials in a meeting in Khorassan Razavi province underlined the need for broadening of economic relations.

Provincial officials and directors of Khorassan Razavi province and members of the visiting Czech economic delegation explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating of mutual cooperation.

The two sides said that the conditions are ready for implementing joint venture projects.

Director General of Khorassan provincial department for economic affairs Ali Rassoulian said that the meeting aims to set up links for transfer of technology, joint venture investment projects, exchange of goods and comprehensive trade cooperation with Czech Republic.

Czech Deputy Industry Minister Eduard Muricky and Czech Republic Charge d' Affaires in Tehran Svatopluk Cumba as well as a group of heads of the Czech companies are the members of the delegation.
