Iran, Slovenia Ink 3 Cooperation Pacts
The first cooperation document was signed by Iranian Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Khazayee and his Slovenian counterpart Edvardo Puccio in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Slovenian President Borut Pahor.
The second cooperation pact was also signed by Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi and the Slovenian deputy economy minister in field of Information and communications technology (ICT).
Meanwhile, Secretary-General of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Saeed Sarkar and head of the Slovenia's institute for nano research Joseph Geocos signed the third cooperation document in field of Bionano.
President Rouhani welcomed his Slovenian counterpart at Saadabad Cultural and Historical Complex in Tehran on Tuesday morning.
The Slovenian president, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Tehran on Monday afternoon and was welcomed by Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian upon his arrival Tehran's international airport.
Iranian and Slovenian entrepreneurs and traders are expected to explore ways of developing ties between the two countries in a meeting on Tuesday.
The Slovenian president will also reopen his country's embassy in Tehran during his stay in Tehran.
The Joint economic meeting of Iran and Slovenia was held in Tehran in May and a number of senior officials from trade companies and banks of Slovenia exchanged views on ways to develop cooperation.
Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and American affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi said at the meeting that the two countries may cooperate in the fields of energy, oil, gas, housing and construction, transportation, mine, agriculture, steel and medicine.
Takht Ravanchi had said that Iran welcomes presence of Slovenian companies in Iran's free trade zones.
The two countries had also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on economic cooperation in Tehran in January 2016.
In relevant remarks in June, Slovenian Parliament Speaker Milan Brglez in a message to his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani underlined his country's enthusiasm for the development of relations with Tehran.
"I firmly believe that MPs of both parliaments will pave the way for establishing ties on the basis of mutual respect and will pursue new opportunities for strengthening relations and cooperation," he added.
Brglez also invited Larijani to visit his county in the near future.
Also in June, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for the broadening of bilateral relations with Slovenia in different areas.
"I hope that Tehran-Ljubljana ties would widen in cultural, economic and political fields," President Rouhani said in a message to his Slovenian counterpart Pahor.
